MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - If it feels like there have been a lot of shots fired and gun-related violence in the past few days, you’re not wrong.
At least 8 gun violence incidents have happened in Dane County since Friday. Specifically in Sun Prairie and Madison, police are continuing to investigate and follow up on these incidents.
Both agencies say overall this year, crime and shootings have decreased, but in recent days, there has been a spike in the number of incidents.
“In 2025, we’ve been kind of trending in the opposite direction, which is wonderful news, so for this year, it is a little bit unusual to be notified of so many offenses over a weekend,” explained Madison Police Captain Dan Nale.
