TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - East Texans are gearing up for Halloween, with the celebration less than a month away.
According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), which conducted a survey speaking with over 8,000 people last month, nearly 80 percent of shoppers anticipate that prices will be higher this year due to tariffs. The NRF expects Halloween spending will reach over $13 billion this year, up nearly $1 billion from the record set two years ago.
The NRF also anticipates that $1.4 billion will be spent on children’s costumes, with 2.3 million people planning on suiting up as Spider-Man. $2 billion will be spent on adult outfits, many of whom are expected to dress up as a witch or as a pirate.
