In a first, the Indian Railways is set to launch an online facility allowing passengers to change the date of their reserved tickets, according to sources. The new service is expected to roll out by January 2026, representing a significant step towards digitising railway services for improved passenger convenience.
Currently, date changes are only possible through offline channels at ticket counters at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure and paying a fee for the change.
According to the Railways Ministry sources, the upcoming digital facility aims to streamline this procedure, potentially reducing congestion at reservation counters and saving time for travellers.
