AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Charges were dropped against a man who’d been arrested months ago in connection with a Jan. 31 incident .

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office had arrested Santo Eliezer Nina on charges of rape and kidnapping.

A dismissal letter confirmed charges were dropped because of not enough evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Nina’s attorney, Terence Theus, issued this statement:

“The dismissal of the warrants for rape and kidnapping brings an end to a long and painful chapter in Mr. Nina’s life. It restores his good name and allows him to continue the life that he had before it was interrupted. Before these allegations, Mr. Nina was a respected and productive member of our community, a man whose integrity and contributions made a meaningful differ
