JOHNSON COUNTY, Texas — Two young boys were found dead Tuesday evening along the Brazos River, officials told WFAA.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office (JSCO) said a call came in at about 6:10 p.m. from along the Brazos River at Hamm Creek Park near the town of Rio Vista, reporting two children missing who had been playing along the water.

Crews responded and found the two boys around 8:30 p.m., and pronounced them dead on the scene, JCSO said. Officials said the boys were 5 and 7 years old.

According to Johnson County Emergency Management, multiple other departments, including Cleburne, Grandview and Texas Game Wardens, also responded to help recover the bodies. Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds confirmed his department's dive team was called to assist Johnson County.
