WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Many job seekers and recent college graduates are reporting a rough job market. It’s a situation that’s even more difficult for those trying to land jobs in the Information Technology field, with many blaming artificial intelligence for taking entry-level jobs.
“It’s definitely a difficult landscape, it’s very difficult,” said Wichita State University Assistant Educator Cody Farlow, who’s been watching the job market change in real time. “What we’ve heard from our industry partners here is that they expect new engineers to know how to appropriately use AI tools. The jobs are still available. I think a lot of it is they’re transitioning to expecting the grunt work of the code to be done with generative AI, but someone still has to put that together.”
