NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk's long-awaited casino project is taking another step forward. City leaders on Tuesday approved a lease with Boyd Gaming, clearing the path for construction.

The general manager of the interim casino , Ron Bailey, said the interim casino will be delivered in November.

He said they are confident they will deliver the interim casino, and also that the permanent casino will not stall, like in previous years.

Bailey told 13News Now that Boyd Gaming got involved last year , and said this casino has been a vision for the city since 2019.

They are committed to delivering a new casino, driving dollars into the Hampton Roads economy, Bailey added.
