DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- The 2025 Durham mayoral general election will be a head-to-head contest between incumbent Mayor Leonardo (Leo) Williams and challenger Anjanée Bell, following the primary election held on October 7.

Tuesday night, Williams walked away with 55% (13,761 votes) of the votes.

Bell received 30% (7,357 votes) of the votes.

Williams, first elected mayor in 2023 after serving on the city council since 2021, is a former public-school teacher and restaurant owner.

Bell is an arts coordinator and the daughter of longtime Durham Mayor Bill Bell, who served from 2001-2017.

She prioritizes housing, local business ownership, crisis care, and enhancing parks and sidewalks. Bell has strong local political endorsements, including from her father and former mayors.
