CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are urging residents to take precautions when conducting online marketplace transactions after two people were robbed at gunpoint during a sale at a Charlotte apartment complex.

The armed robbery occurred on Monday on Millerton Avenue, according to a police incident report. Two suspects demanded the victims' personal property, then escorted them from an elevator to a staircase before fleeing in a vehicle.

Law enforcement officials say the incident highlights the importance of choosing safe meeting locations for online sales and purchases.

Sgt. Anthony Green of the Belmont Police Department said police stations offer the safest venue for such transactions.
