LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Flash flooding in Louisville on Tuesday caused chaos across the metro. Heavy rains inundated low-lying areas within minutes, leaving drivers stranded and first responders scrambling to help.

Monica Harkins, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Emergency Services (LMES), emphasized the importance of caution during such severe weather events.

“The number one thing in a flash flooding situation is knowing where those kinds of zones are that are prone to flooding,” said Harkins.

LMES reported receiving 30 calls about water-related emergencies during the flash flooding. Among the incidents, first responders, including Louisville Fire personnel, rescued several drivers trapped in their vehicles.
