TOLLESON, AZ (AZFamily) — Arizona legislators ordered a financial review of Tolleson Union High School District on Tuesday after a former principal came forward with stunning allegations.

The Arizona Joint Legislative Audit Committee, made up of Republicans and Democrats, unanimously ordered a special audit of the district at the end of a two-hour meeting.

Several people testified in front of the committee, including Felipe Mandurraga, who worked in the district for eight years, most recently as principal of Tolleson High School. He claims TUHSD superintendent Jeremy Calles took steps to inflate attendance numbers, which determines how much money an Arizona school district gets.
