A man has been shot dead before a car was found engulfed in flames in Western Sydney.

The man was found with gunshot wounds on Annaluke St in Riverstone about 6pm on Wednesday after police received reports of a shooting.

Despite efforts from paramedics, he died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

About 15 minutes later, a car was found ablaze on Riverstone Rd in the same suburb, about a minute’s drive away.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze but the car was destroyed.

Police have established two crime scenes and are investigating whether the incidents are linked.

As investigations continue, police are urging anyone with any information to come forward.
