The National Weather Service issued a freeze watch at 2:23 a.m. on Wednesday valid from Thursday 10 p.m. until Friday 9 a.m. for Carbon, Monroe, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

The weather service comments, "Sub-freezing temperatures between 26 and 31 degrees possible. The coldest temperatures will occur in sheltered valleys."

"Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing," describes the weather service. "Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold."
