Dogs big and small, and a few other pets gathered with their young owners at Ludington Area Catholic to receive a blessing during Blessing of the Pets on Monday afternoon.
Taking place outdoors, some of the animals gently basqued in the warm sunshine while some dogs let out a cheerful bark as they curiously greeted the other animals as far as their leash would allow. Some kids even brought their toy stuffed animal pets to be blessed.
Everyone who gathered sang a few rounds of, “Thank you Lord for giving us life, right where we are,” with the final verse, “Thank you Lord for giving us ‘pets,’ right where we are.”
