A family have left the UK behind and moved to Mauritius in a bid to escape the 'rat race' and enjoy what feels like a 'permanent holiday'.

Adam Short, 44, and his wife Tara, 38, along with their two children Spencer, nine, and Xander, four, visited Mauritius for a holiday in November 2024.

After returning to their home in Sheffield and resuming their 8am-6pm work routine, they found themselves yearning for a slower pace of life.

Despite living costs being identical, the family say the 6,000 mile move is worth it for the beautiful beaches, warm summers, friendly neighbours and more quality family time.
