Actress Shailene Woodley is stepping into new and vulnerable territory.

The Big Little Lies star, 33, is set to play Janis Joplin in Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can, a biopic that explores the life of the trailblazing singer who died at just 27 in 1970. Speaking to People in a no-holds-barred interview, Woodley said that the role is as daunting as it is exciting. “Singing is very scary. It’s very vulnerable,” she was reported as saying by People, reflecting on the challenge of embodying Joplin’s raw, soulful voice.
