Before Glen Powell became one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men, he was just another hopeful actor trying to make it in Los Angeles — and, as it turns out, nearly a Glee star.

Appearing on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, Powell revealed that he auditioned for the role of Sam Evans in the hit musical series, a part that eventually went to his close friend Chord Overstreet. “One of my best buddies in the world is Chord Overstreet,” Powell, 36, recalled. “We both auditioned for Glee. We both auditioned for the same role.”

At the time, both young actors were grinding their way through Hollywood’s audition circuit, often side by side. “We were in the waiting room at the same time,” he said. “We were buddies.” It came down to the wire, Powell said, but Overstreet landed the part. “W
