MANDEVILLE, La. (KLFY)— Kathy Seiden, a Republican member of the St. Tammany Parish Council, announced her candidacy for the United States Senate on Tuesday, becoming the first female candidate to enter the Louisiana Republican primary for the 2026 election cycle.
Seiden, who represents District 4 on the parish council, cited a disconnect between federal policymakers and the day-to-day concerns of Louisiana families as a central reason for her campaign.
“Washington has lost touch with the real challenges families face every single day,” Seiden said. “As a mother of four, I’ve lived those struggles.”
