MANDEVILLE, La. — Kathy Seiden, a St. Tammany Parish Council member, officially announced her campaign for the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, as the first woman to enter the Louisiana Republican Primary.
Seiden also released a , giving voters what she says is an unfiltered look at her journey.
In a social media post on Instagram, Seiden shared a video following the announcement.
"Since 2000, only 4 challengers have defeated elected incumbent U.S. Senators in their party primaries. In 2026, Kathy Seiden will make it 5. Giants fall. Outsiders WIN," she posted.
Born in Hammond and raised in Brusly, Seiden is a graduate of Louisiana State University. She is currently in her first term on the St. Tammany Parish Council, where she represents District 4.
