Television chef Jamie Oliver has reflected on a particularly painful chapter in his career following his parents’ decision to sell their family pub after decades of ownership.
Since rising to fame in the early 2000s, Jamie swiftly became one of Britain’s most recognisable culinary figures, boasting numerous bestselling cookbooks and TV programmes.
Despite successfully building his Jamie’s Italian empire across the country, the venture came to an end in 2019, forcing all outlets to close permanently.
Speaking about his anguish at being unable to purchase his parents’ pub and maintain its family legacy, he revealed on James O’Brien’s Full Disclosure podcast: “Do you know what, I’d just lost my restaurants and I couldn’t afford it. And it’s one of my big, huge life regre
