MICHIGAN CITY — In the wake of reports of illegal trapping of cats in the city, animal control officials are now warning that animal poisoning may be going on as well.

Michigan City Animal Control Services issued word Tuesday of possible poisoning going on in the area of Gardena and Superior streets.

The public is asked to watch out for and report any suspicious behavior.

Animal control officials said last week they had become aware of illegal trapping of cats and asked that anyone seeing such behavior report it to police.

"Please do not allow people to set traps on your property for the time being" officials said.
