The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have re-signed running back Owen Wright, who was their leading rusher during the preseason, adding him to their practice squad on Wednesday. To make room on that 17-man unit, the team released guard Sua Opeta.
Wright, who had previously spent time with the Baltimore Ravens, signed with the Buccaneers on July 31, near the beginning of training camp. He appeared in all three preseason games, rushing 26 times for a team-high 100 yards and a touchdown and adding four catches for 12 yards. He also returned one kickoff for 25 yards.
The Buccaneers are currently down one running back with starter Bucky Irving recovering from foot and shoulder injuries, ailments that caused him to miss last week's game in Seattle. Rachaad White, Sean Tucker and Josh Williams remain on th
