New Delhi, Oct 08: India’s Hydrogen Age has officially begun, with plans to produce 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030, targeting a 10% share of the global market.
Minister Hardeep Singh Puri noted that green hydrogen prices are expected to fall below $3 per kg. Achieving a price of $2.5 per kg could potentially replace $150 billion in energy imports.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched in January 2023 with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crores, supports India’s self-reliance through clean energy. Major projects include a Green Hydrogen Hub by NTPC in Andhra Pradesh, which involves an investment of Rs 1.85 lakh crore and aims to establish significant renewable energy capacities.
