The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office has released the number of arrests made over citizenship status for September 2025.

The HCSO reports, 58 people were arrested for unlawful or unknown citizenship status and booked at the Hamilton County Jail.

The number is a combined total of arrests made by Hamilton County Sheriff's deputies or officers from city police departments including Chattanooga, East Ridge, and Red Bank.

Of those 58 arrests, 51 people were place on hold for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The HCSO said 42 of the 51 holds were eventually released to ICE.

"At the time of booking, these individuals did not meet one or more of the ten statutory qualifiers used to verify citizenship status under state law," the HCSO said on Facebook .
