MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Three people, including two young children, were taken to the hospital Wednesday after a van crashed into a tree in Montgomery County.

In a post on X, Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service said the collision took place on Punch Street near Queensguard Road in the Layhill area on Wednesday morning.

When firefighters arrived, they found the van about 40 feet off the road, detailed Piringer.

All passengers, an adult and two "young school-aged children," were out of the van. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A picture taken at the scene showed the hood of the van destroyed and airbags deployed in the front seat.

It is currently unclear what led up to the crash.
