HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Fourth graders from the South Heartland District Health Department’s four-county area learned about the importance of healthy eating and staying active during the 21st annual Nebraska Kids Fitness and Nutrition Day.

Three hundred kids from 11 different schools went to the Hastings Family YMCA to participate in the event. When they arrived, they were divided into small groups to do a series of fun exercise activities, learn about healthy foods and drinks at 14 different stations.

The event’s coordinator, Brooke Wolfe, said fourth grade is the perfect age to get kids to start thinking about healthy life choices.
