An Oklahoma woman is speaking out after her friend’s 17-year-old son was removed from his mother’s custody and hospitalized to receive court-ordered cancer treatment.

“This is a constitutional right violation. We as parents have the right to take care of our children,” said Roberta Lewis, Mooney family advocate.

In a case state lawmakers are now calling "medical kidnapping," the state's Department of Human Services (DHS) is facing harsh criticism. The agency intervened after family members reportedly filed a complaint over the teen's medical care. The action led to the mother losing custody and the teenager being forced to undergo treatment against the family's wishes.
