Shillong, Oct 8: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested three postal officials, including an Assistant Branch Postmaster in East Garo Hills district, for allegedly demanding a Rs 30,000 bribe to release a withheld salary.
The arrested officials will be produced before the competent court, the CBI said.
Further investigation into the case is underway to ascertain the involvement of other officials and the extent of the alleged corruption, it added.
A case was registered on October 4 based on a complaint filed by a Gram Dak Sevak, who serves as the Block Post Master at Rongjeng Sub-Office.
