A recent study by GoBankingRates set out to find out which small towns have the most savings, based on cost of living and income. Out of the qualifying towns, which had populations between 1,000 and 10,000 and scored at least an 85 on a livability index, Nutter Fort in Harrison County scored the highest in the entire U.S.
The study estimated that based on average annual take-home pay and cost of living, Nutter Fort residents are able to save an average of $38,807 per year, which was $1,000 more than any other qualifying small town.
