This is the breathtaking moment a 'train' of Elon Musk's Starlink satellites in orbit passed by stunning aurora displays.

NASA astronaut Don Pettit filmed the remarkable spectacle from 257 miles above Earth aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

Sharing clips from his recent stint on the orbiting laboratory, he remarked on Tuesday (Oct 7): "My best sighting of a Starlink satellite 'train' from orbit!".

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), his son A. Pettit described it as a "contender for one of the coolest videos from space", and noted: "Nothing visualises how omnipresently SURROUNDED by satellites we are better than this video."

He continued: "And this is only the ones that are visible in a tiny fraction of the Earth's limb."
