HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Adams County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a critical incident after someone found a child in a ditch south of Hastings.

The sheriff’s office said a passerby found the 15-month-old child in a ditch near the 2000 block of South Marian Road in rural Adams County.

Local4 spoke with ACSO Chief Deputy Kevin Mauck on Monday, where he said a female child between 1 and 2 years of age was located and they were investigating.

At the time, Mauck told Local4 they were not releasing further information.

That changed on Wednesday after a release was sent out from the sheriff’s office asking for the public’s help in this case.
