At one point, the line waiting for a bowl of soup at St. Andrews by the Sea in Nags Head was almost out the door at the Oct. 4 Empty Bowls fundraiser to fight hunger.
“I was expecting it to be bigger than the last year, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this big,” Father Nathan Flnnin, Rector of St. Andrews told the Voice.
Asked if he had an estimate of how many people had come to the event, Father Flnnin said he didn’t know yet. Tickets were $20 and a bowl of soup was $5.
Dianne Kotasenski, who has been organizing Empty Bowls for the church since it started hosting the event five years ago guessed around “three hundred, but I’m not sure.”
