WASHINGTON (WCAX) - Vermont Sen. Peter Welch was among Senate Democrats engaged in tense exchanges with U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday.

Bondi repeatedly deflected questions from Democrats as she sought to defend herself against growing criticism that she’s turning the DOJ into a weapon to seek vengeance against President Donald Trump’s political opponents.

Welch’s confrontation centered on an alleged bribery case that was recently dropped involving Border Czar Tom Homan. Welch repeatedly questioned Bondi about the existence of audio and video recordings of the alleged $50,000 transaction.
