Brewers at Cubs picks and predictions
Prediction
Brewers 3, Cubs 2
Moneyline
The BREWERS (-120) are a good bet behind Peralta on Thursday, as they look to salt this series away, and advance to the NLCS to await the winner of the Phillies-Dodgers series.
But, first things first. Milwaukee has dropped 4 of the past 5 games at Wrigley Field since Aug. 19, so there is work to be done. Boyd lost just 1 time in 13 decisions on the north side in the regular season. However, he has looked very ordinary in 2 postseason starts, including Game 1 against Peralta in Cream City.
It took these manager's a little time to settle upon the 2 Game 1 starters for this matchup, but Peralta is the clear-cut choice. He won both of his starts in the regular season at Wrigley Field, and will help Milwaukee advance.
Run line/Against the spread
The CUBS +1.5 (-175) are actually not priced out of line if you'd like a little bit of insurance, and you just don't trust Chicago straight up.
Boyd lost just once in the regular season at home, but there is plenty of risk, as he was knocked around in the series opener, although the defense let him down, contributing to a muted start.
Over/Under
UNDER 7 (-102) is a low number, but the winds will be blowing in from center field at a 9-12 MPH clip right into the face of the batters at Wrigley. That should contribute to the Under, as does the fact both teams have solid starting pitching on the bump.
