GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) -- The case continues in the controversial court battle between a Civil Rights leader and an AMC Theater located in eastern North Carolina.
A federal judge has denied the theater's attempt to dismiss a lawsuit filed by public theologian and civil rights leader Bishop William Barber II against AMC Theaters that was filed in 2024.
According to his legal team, Barber was attending a showing of The Color Purple December 23, 2023 at AMC Fire Tower 12 in Greenville when he said theater staff demanded that he prove his disability before using one of their accessible chairs.
