Vice President J.D. Vance will reportedly visit Indiana later this week to meet with state leaders amid an ongoing push from the White House for Indiana and other red states to redraw their congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, according to a report from the Indiana Capital Chronicle.
The news outlet reported on Oct. 8 that the visit from Vance will take place Friday, based on three anonymous sources. Neither Indiana Senate nor House Republican leadership immediately responded to IndyStar's requests to confirm the visit.
Meanwhile, there doesn't appear to be consensus among a majority of lawmakers that reopening the maps to draw more favorable districts would be the right decision for Indiana.
