Rangers will have to pay Hearts around £500k if they want to make Derek McInnes their new gaffer. ‌

The Ibrox club have ramped up their search for Russell Martin’s replacement - with Steven Gerrard a top target. ‌

He’s due in London for talks with the Ibrox hierarchy over a sensational return to Glasgow - but it’s unclear if Gerrard is keen on a second stint as Rangers manager. ‌

The club have other names on their radar, including experienced Hearts boss McInnes.

As it stands, NO contact has been made yet between Rangers and Hearts or the 54-year-old’s representatives.

But if Ibrox chiefs decide to make a move for McInnes, Record Sport understands they’ll have to meet a compensation clause in his contract which is in the region of £500k. ‌
