KANPUR: Eight people were injured, with two in critical condition, following a powerful explosion on Wednesday evening at Meston Road, one of Kanpur's busiest marketplaces. The blast occurred outside Abdul Hameed's plastic shop in Mishri Bazaar, Moolganj, damaging two parked scooters. It is suspected to have been caused by the illegal storage of firecrackers or a battery. The explosion was so intense that its sound was heard up to 500 meters away, scattering shops on the footpath and shattering windows of nearby houses.
