There’s “light at the end of the tunnel” for a historic cabin restoration project near Grand Bend.
“We just completed the chinking and the restoration of a fireplace and chimney, and now we’re working on the floors, the stairs to the second floor,” said Jessica Stevenson, with the Lambton Heritage Museum.

The cabin is believed to have been built in Goderich in the 1830s, was floated down Lake Huron to Sarnia in the 1930s, then moved to Sarnia’s Canatara Park in 1971, until it was donated and moved to the heritage museum in 2020 . Fundraising for restoration work has been underway since.
A $60,000 federal tourism grant also went toward the project.
