MARTINSBURG - A steady rain didn’t dampen the spirit as Post 14 of the American Legion cut the ribbon on its new headquarters on Saturday. The new Veterans Engagement Center, the group says, will serve as a home and community center for local veterans.
The project to get a new headquarters for the local American Legion chapter has been an ongoing goal for them for quite some time. For years, Post 14 operated without a permanent headquarters after its longtime building on Race Street closed. That loss left members scrambling to hold meetings and programs in borrowed spaces across the community.
