It appeared to be a done deal on election night. Andrew Barr drank a beer from the podium as Labor celebrated its seventh-straight election victory.

The public service did not waste any time letting the dust settle. The head of service, Kathy Leigh, signed a letter dated election day, congratulating Mr Barr on his victory and imminent re-election as Chief Minister.
