The circumstances that led to the last few moments of Harriet Edwards' life are a mystery.

Nashville Police know she was strangled and suffered a blow to the head. But who did it, when did it happen and why are all still under investigation.

Edwards, 74, was found dead at about 9 a.m. Oct. 6 when a longtime friend went to check on her after not hearing or seeing her for a few days, Nashville Police said in a statement Oct. 7.

Edwards lived alone in her North Nashville home on Chateau Valley Court. Her friend found her on her bed.

A neighbor told investigators that she last saw Edwards on Oct. 3, police said.

A medical ledger, kept by Edwards, detailed her routine. Based on that notebook, police said they believe she died between 2:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 3.
