Gov. Maura Healey said law enforcement in Massachusetts will have “zero tolerance” for illegal car meetups or street takeovers that have left a police car burning in downtown Boston and chaotic scenes across the state over the past week.
Meetups in the South End, Middleboro, Fall River, Randolph, Hyde Park, and Westwood that scrambled local authorities prompted Healey to ask the Massachusetts State Police to shift more resources toward investigating and preventing the so-called street takeovers.
Healey, a first-term Democrat facing reelection next year and multiple Republicans looking to challenge her, said the meetups and drag racing are “really bothering her.”
“I just want to be really clear on a couple of things, do not engage in that behavior. Anyone who engages in that conduct will
