CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares is speaking out after text messages sent by Democratic attorney general candidate Jay Jones surfaced, describing the contents as "flooring" and "disqualifying" for someone seeking to be the state’s top prosecutor.
The texts, sent in 2022 to a legislative colleague, referenced “putting two bullets” in the head of then-Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert and expressed disturbing wishes of harm against Gilbert’s wife and children.
