Derrick Groves , the final fugitive among 10 inmates who escaped from a New Orleans jail earlier this year, has been captured, per CNN .

On Wednesday (October 8), Groves, 27, was captured in Southwest Atlanta following a standoff with U.S. Marshals and Atlanta Police.

Groves had been on the run since May 16, when he and nine others escaped from the Orleans Justice Center in the early morning hours. According to Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fair, Groves was located at a residence and taken into custody without injuries.

Groves is a convicted killer, found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder for a 2018 Mardi Gras mass shooting that left two men dead and others wounded.
