CHARLES TOWN – Defending champion Runaldo headlines a full field of 10 with two alternates in this year’s renewal of the Sam Huff West Virginia Breeders’ Classic, the richest race for West Virginia-breds on the 39th annual West Virginia Breeders’ Classics card.
The 10-race program boasts over $1 million in purses and gets underway at 7 p.m.
Runaldo – named for the tandem of trainer Jeff Runco and jockey Arnaldo Bocachica – burst onto the scene last year with his win in the Sam Huff. The son of Creative Cause has added three allowance wins to his resume in his 5-year-old campaign, and Runco believes Runaldo is primed for another top performance.
