The state of Louisiana has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s decision to let abortion pills be sent through the mail, saying the change violates state law and puts women at risk.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, was brought by Attorney General Liz Murrill and a Louisiana woman named Rosalie Markezich, who alleged she felt coerced to take pills her boyfriend ordered. It argues that the FDA broke federal law when it removed the requirement that the abortion drug mifepristone be given to patients in person by a certified provider.
