AUSTIN, Texas — The Ending Community Homelessness Coalition, or ECHO, released its State of the System report on Wednesday – an annual review of the people, programs and progress within Austin and Travis County's homelessness response system (HRS).

According to the report, which spans through 2024, Austin and Travis County have more than doubled the number of beds and units available to people experiencing homelessness since 2019. Emergency shelter capacity grew by more than 70% year over year.

Last year, providers helped more than 3,000 people move into stable housing, an increase over 2023 of nearly 400 people.

ECHO said the HRS is now more efficient. The group was able to get vulnerable people into housing about four months faster than in years past.
