FARGO — A Warwick man was sentenced Tuesday, Oct. 7, to 20 years in federal prison for sexually abusing two people, including a child and an incapacitated person.

Jourdain Jaden Smith, 26, pleaded guilty in April to sexual abuse of an incapacitated victim and sexual abuse of a minor. Two additional charges — aggravated sexual abuse by force and possession of materials involving the sexual exploitation of minors — were dismissed.

From January 2020 to December 2020, Smith engaged in sexual acts with a girl who was at least 12 but not yet 16, according to the indictment in his case. On Oct. 19, 2021, he had sexual contact with a separate person who, at the time of the act, was incapable of giving consent. Both crimes occurred on tribal lands.
