NEWARK - Marion P. Thomas Charter School in Newark is launching “Village 25,” a year-long fundraising campaign in honor of 25 years of teaching, service and impact in the greater Newark area.

The goal of the initiative is to raise $125,000 for post-secondary scholarships, academic innovation and vibrant learning spaces for the next generation of leaders.

A Village Awards Gala – hosted by Alfred Edmond Jr. of Black Enterprise – will kick off the fundraising campaign on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Marion P. Thomas Charter School High School.

“Village 25 is a call to action — a way for us to rally around children and invest in opportunities that will carry them forward,” said Mo Butler, honorary chair of the Village Awards Gala.
